Simple Pleasures & White Farmhouse Cabinets

Hi Friends. . .
It's so nice to be able to say Hi and know there's actually someone out there!!!!

I remember thinking when I began blogging, "Is anyone actually reading this?"
I found pleasure in creating the posts--
and, even more pleasure in meeting so many truly nice people. . . .
I want you to know that I appreciate all of you--friends, followers, family. . . .

I've been playing around with the keeping room cabinets this week. . . .
Putting the final coat of paint on. . . .
And thinking about life's simple pleasures. . . .

Moving to the farm has so enriched my life. . . .
I truly enjoy the simplicity of it. . . .

As I read your comments and suggestions concerning the keeping room cabinets
and what I should do with them, I realized that my decorating style
has become fairly simple and straight forward. . .

I also love the imperfections of handmade crafting. . . .
This 1930s cabinet is a good example--
Notice the glassed doors don't match,
the wood in the lower cabinet runs the wrong way,
The knobs are simple wooden spool halves,
The top is stained with water circles, dents and dings. . . .

Imperfections--Simple style--Making do--
Yet, Unique and Beautiful to me. . .

Because I'm embracing the simple and loving it,
I decided to paint all the cabinets white--
just as the farmer's wife would have years ago--
then let everyday wear and tear
distress them to perfection. . . .

Are you ready for a quick preview
of that wall of cabinets?

Just a quick look. . . . .

This photo was taken right after the paint dried. . . .
I haven't decorated or tweaked it. . . .
But, I think they're beautiful in their simplicity. . . .
Perfect for a rustic farmhouse keeping room. . . .
Don't you agree?

Many thanks to all of you who helped me with my decisions. . . .
I think WE did a good job.

Now that the cabinets are built and in place,
we can move on to the next step in our keeping room journey--
The Floor. . . .
Hopefully, it will look like this when we're done. . . .

Like your cabinets and your style. The floors would scare me though as I've never tried something like that, but would enjoy the finished look.

Love your cabinets, you did an amazing job painting them! I actually love all of the little quirks and imperfections of vintage pieces, it makes them so much more interesting than brand new stuff! Oh, I am a farmer's daughter, too:)

The cabinets are perfect. I loved your comment about the farmer's wife painting the cabinet white and then just letting it age to perfection. Such a great way to think and decorate.

Perfect imperfection! I love your cabinets and how you styled them! Every dent, ding, and chip tells a story. Doesn't get any better than that. :)

I love the look of white and wood. Those are great cabinets. The cast iron kettles caught my eye. My mother used to cook using them and I can still see one in my mind drying on the gas stove and we always asked why she cooked nothing.

I love what you did with the cupboards. I knew your final decision would be practical and LOVELY!

They look great. I'm smitten with that narrow shelf and all the cast iron dutch ovens and pots!

A sneak peak at the wall of cabinets--- just doesn't seem fair!
I want to touch that wood grain on the counter of the hutch... it bet it has an wonderful worn finish that feels nice to touch.
